Hitchens wanted to live long enough to see him die. He said Kissinger was a war criminal. Well, he didn't live long enough to see it. But he's dead now.

He did participate in the destruction of the Chilean democracy, which was bad. Accusations that he prolonged Vietnam, bombed Cambodia, etc. I think there were various petitions for his arrest in other countries, including the UK. I believe Spain wanted him for his role with Pinochet. I heard (but do not know for a fact) that he didn't travel much for fear of being arrested if he set foot in any of a number of other countries.
