Johnson is wrong in the first sentence. They aren't "illegals". They are asylum applicants. Nothing illegal about that, as albaby has explained exhaustively.

They’re gaming the system.

Likely both extremes are stamping their feet and holding their breath, but the right extreme seems to have outsized power in these things.
