Subject: Re: Question, please
If I want to post a comment or question regarding a specific company, is it better to post on the specific company discussion board or on the Berkshire Hathaway board? Is it inappropriate to post a comment about, for example, Brookfield Corporation on the Berkshire Hathaway board? I just posted a question on the Brookfield Corporation board, but I think I would get more viewers and more feedback on the Berkshire Hathaway board.
If you want to specifically address the community oriented around one board, even if the topic doesn't relate such as Brookfield Corporation on the Berkshire Hathaway word, then definitely mark it as OT.
Some boards cover lots of firms, like Manlobbi's Descent, so it wouldn't need to be OT there, however it should relate to the Manlobbi Method if posted there.
Even if you post questions and nights to the Brookfield Corporation board, but you expect fewer readers there, it is still better to post it there in general if you also (1) read your post afterwards just to copy-paste the URL, then: (2) create post on the Berkshire Board (if you want to address that audience) with a copy of the URL that takes Berkshire readers to your post on the Brookfield Corporation board.
It is one of the reasons that this platform worked so extremely well in the past - we had more cultural distinction between boards. If you mix cultures everything together, there can be a lowest-common-denominator effect. Cross pollination is okay, but better with the manner described above so we still retain a rather strong intensity of focus that will make Shrewdom special.
