This phase of the honeymoon, yes. But the Convention lasts until August 22. There is typically a week to 10 days of “afterglow” following a Convention, absent the kind of thing that turned Chicago 1968 upside down.

That takes you to the end of August, leaving just September and October for Republicans to find a key. Of course there is always the possibility of an October surprise, but there is also the probability that many votes will be cast long before Election Day, meaning the Election season is extremely short, the rabid partisans on both sides are fired up, and there may be only a couple weeks and days for the hurlers of goop and slime to work their magic before the election is significantly frozen, if not decided.
