Subject: Re: dementia and gut bacteria
More research. It's really interesting how much we are learning about the gut biome, and its effect on more than gastro-wellness. It seems to affect everything.

Yes! I recently found some fascinating research on using synbiotics (pre-biotic + probiotic) to prevent cognitive damage in seniors undering surgery with general anesthesia, preventing brain fog in breast cancer patients undergoing chemo, and preclinical work using it to treat dementia and cognitive loss.

AND....I've just been to some fascinating talks on items in the gut microbiome that are critical to treating cognitive issues. The Integrative Healthcare Symposium takes place annually just a few subway stops from me, and it was last week Thurs-Sat. Several very relevant talks. Will provide some details later. Don't have the time right now.
