Yes, this is twisted logic by Alito. A peaceful transfer of power has been the norm for over 200 years. The recent aberration should be totally rejected as unacceptable, not accommodated by granting immunity. John Adams did not need criminal immunity.

A criminal President will try to cling to power to avoid accountability for their personal actions. Giving them immunity will just encourage more crimes.
