Panama Canal: The primary route for almost all ocean-going trade between the Atlantic and Pacific.

See my previous post about how tolls in the Canal are not by a fixed schedule anymore. Access is auctioned, and the going price has increased ten-fold, since Hormuz closed. That will start making the Cape look economic.

Strait of Magellan: A popular, safer alternative to Cape Horn that is still hazardous but far better than the open ocean.

A base in the Falklands would control access to the Strait as well.

We old phartz remember when Suez was closed, by the 67 war. Egypt did not regain control of the east bank, until after the 73 war. Then they had to clear scuttled ships and unexploded ordinance from the Canal. The net sifter says the Canal finally reopened on June 5, 1975.

God and Savior Trump, Master of Oil, is nearly 80 years old. He probably doesn't care much what happens more than ten years from now, so a Hormuz shut down as long as the Suez shutdown, would probably suit him fine.
