And that ain't hyperbole.

Well, you just turned the segment into hyperbole taking it out of content, adding sensational commentary.
Far from hyperbole. Your jaw-dropping comment reveals only that you haven't the faintest idea of what went on in the concentration camps, the tortures, starvations, wholesale degradations, deprivations, and degradations. The difference between those who survived and those who perished was often strictly chance.
My in-laws managed to survive, having been informed on after they had infiltrated a German paramilitary organization in France (and hidden the fact that they were Jewish). My mother-in-law survived Auschwitz. And my father-in-law survived a series of camps that included Dachau and Matthausen. And it was a combination of craftiness and creativity.....that they honed when they were in the French Underground, NOT developed in the camps.....and sheer luck. Then there are all of their relatives (including my mother-in-law's mother), and family of my father's who had remained in Poland, who never survived the camps.
Hyperbole? I'm shaking my head.
