No, perhaps you misunderstood.... people were not in the streets erupting in protest but protests were 'verbal eruptions' from the local politicians at their meetings, 'Los Angeles City council meeting' and mentioned were verbal protests in Chicago and NYC.

Citizens and politicians alike are erupting in verbal protest over the illegal aliens.
