We agree here. I'm opposed to all book banning (or burning). It may be a little more work for educators to give context for a work, but it should be given as part of any assigned reading.

In the movie Gone with the Wind, Rhett raped Scarlett. And then she was humming to herself the next morning. In the 1930s (and before), the attitude of "she says 'no', but she really wants it" was much more prevalent than today. Today that would never make it into a script. Historical context is important, or you couldn't read many of the classics (e.g. Twain). Banning is not the answer.
