Subject: McConnell calls it quits
He is stepping down as the head of the Republican Party, saying his national security policy views are "out of step" with the party headed by Trump.
This is huge. I never liked the guy, and would never have voted for him. But he was old-style Republican who knew what it takes to get things done (e.g. compromise...occasionally). He was also very shrewd, politically. I'm not sure how much difference he was making in the Party since MAGA took over. Maybe he had his finger in the dike? Or maybe he was fading into irrelevance.
