Not just mortgage defaults. I asked the net sifter about auto loan defaults:

States with Highest Auto Loan Delinquency/Default Rates

Based on recent 2025–2026 data, the following states consistently show the highest rates of delinquent or defaulted auto loans:

Louisiana: Frequently ranked 1st or 2nd, with high rates of both early (30 days) and late (90+ days) delinquencies.

Mississippi: Top-ranking state for overall delinquency rates (reaching up to 9.8% to 13% depending on the study).

Georgia: Consistently ranks among the top states for delinquent borrowers.

West Virginia: High delinquency and default rates reported.Alabama: Shows high delinquency rates (roughly 9%).

Texas: High balances and high delinquency rates

Yup. Predominately MAGA areas. Low income. Low education. Then a demagogue tells them how they are victims, and they flock to his banner.
