Subject: OT: inflation, again
Just FWIW
The Fed says that disinflation is the new thing.
Smaller hikes are in order, on the theory that not much more pounding will be needed.
Most observers (certainly the other big central banks) are more dubious.
Who knows?
But interesting figures to watch---
3 month rate of change of core US CPI. (annualized linearly)
June 7.7%
July 6.6%
August 6.4%
September 5.9%
October 5.7%
November 4.2%
December 3.1%
All US cities, everything but food and fuel.
So this particular disinflation view is not because of the temporary pullback in oil prices.
