For global high yield, I'm presently using the ETFs SPHY and JNK; SPHY has significantly lower expense ratio than JNK; with a smattering of PTY to replace XBIL.

For preferreds, I use individuals because the ETFs tend to get hammered more by rising interest rates. At the moment I'm down to MSPRE, DDT and EPR-G (EPRPRG).
