Many facts are merely an opinion, no matter how strenuously the holder of that opinion shouts the word "fact".
Well, no. The very definition of a fact is something that is true, that actually happened, that exists. A fact may be incomplete, not show all there is to know, but that does not render a 'fact' an 'opinion.'
Different people may have different interpretations of what those facts mean, but there is no such thing as an 'alternate fact'.
