**/B>The part of the Dept of Education that I think should remain federalized is the part that supports special needs students. Accommodating these students is immensely expensive and having just one such student move into a small town school district can devastate the school budget. Plus being federalized allows for consistent standards of care as well as the possibility of economies of scale.
