w2 reported with-holding for SS #s actually exceed that going out to the same 'too elderly' age bracket.
so SS#s are being used in error, and\or re-used by unethical employers\employees to fill jobs
(people paying SS tax into fake numbers of others will not be getting that money back!)

i had to hear this from a BBC podcast on stats, not from an american media outlet.
