By refusing to say "slavery," Haley pretended that slavery was not the cause of the Civil War and effectively acted as though it never existed. And in the worst unforced error since Dukakis and the tank, killed her political career and political aspirations. Her campaign is dead.

I don't know. Did she pretend slavery didn't exist, or simply overlook the fact that it was the cause of the Civil War? Surely she must have known that to deliberately not mention slavery would be a fatal error. Even I could tell this was a "gotcha" question. But I suppose, either way, it doesn't present her in the best light: as either an obscurantist or an idiot!
