LurkerMom: Where a 75-year-old woman was sentenced to two years in prison for praying outside an abortion clinic? 🫨
No.
Paulette Harlow was convicted of civil rights conspiracy and violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act for blocking access to an abortion clinic in Washington DC.
She and others forcefully entered the clinic and blockaded two clinic doors using their bodies, furniture, chains, and ropes. Once the blockade was established, they live-streamed their activities.
The 1994 FACE Act prohibits the use of force and physical obstruction to interfere with a person obtaining or providing reproductive health services. Former President Bill Clinton backed the legislation in response to violence by anti-abortion activists in the 1980s and 90s.
The law was passed in response to violent attacks against patients and abortion providers. These included the murders of Dr. David Gunn, who was fatally shot in Pensacola, Florida, in 1993 by anti-abortion activist Michael Griffin, and of Dr. George Tiller, who was shot in the head at his church in Wichita, Kansas, in 2009 by anti-abortion extremist Scott Roeder.
But then, maybe Griffin and Roeder just got a little carried away with their "praying," dontchaknow.
You "law and order" folks really don't believe in law and order, do you now?
One more thing: you guys are so in love with the babies born here to undocumented immigrants that you can't wait to strip away their birthright citizenship and deport them to countries where they have never once set foot.
