Interesting back story kind of article about Borsheims from just before its purchase by Berkshire to the CEO's views today. Borsheims did not have a full fledged accounting/costing/inventory management system in 1988. When our family business was only 500K in annual sales we put in a full manufacturing costing and inventory management system in 1989. A business needs to know its costs and margins! The article says Buffett required Borsheims to implement an inventory costing and management system.
