Subject: A Top Ten list for Iran
Reality check:
1. There has been no regime change in Iran. The Son has replaced the Father with an even more hardline set of advisors.
2. We have managed to retrieve exactly zero grams, kilograms, pounds, or ounces of enriched uranium.
3. The Strait of Hormuz is closed. At the beginning of this debacle it was open, and it cost us nothing.
4. We are told we have completely destroyed Iran’s Army, Navy, and Air Force, yet Iranian ships are stopping traffic in the Strait, and the Iranian military has been able to shoot down the most advanced American fighters.
5. Thirteen American bases in nearby Middle Eastern countries have been destroyed or damaged to the point where they are partially or totally unusable, and we are housing American soldiers in local hotels.
6. We have broken trust with European NATO countries and the alliance in general by blaming them for not joining us on this foolhardy escapade, which we did not bother consulting them about prior to launch.
7. Iranian citizens are now back in the street protesting, except this time instead of protesting against their government, they are protesting against America and in favor of Iran’s leaders.
8. Trump says we armed the Kurds so they could invade as a ground force, except they didn’t. They just took the weapons for themselves, apparently.
9. Gasoline prices in the US and around the world have increased 30% or more, costing American drivers billions of dollars each week, and making similar billions for Iran and Russia as their oil stocks increase in value.
10. Higher gasoline prices are stoking inflation, as delivery costs for all merchandise increase, production energy inputs cost more, and jet fuel and diesel costs increase, making transportation companies increase fees across the board.
