Yes, I've seen the interview of Clinton where he talks about that. Back then a Trump wasn't contemplated. That the US wouldn't back NATO wasn't foreseen by the right wing. Our corporations and overseas trade benefit tremendously from our defense and trade Alliances. Helping Ukraine is cheap compared to a direct confrontation. But it is true that we convinced them to get rid of nukes to their detriment.
