Subject: The root cause
onepoorguy: "the root cause of all the asylum-seekers (e.g. violence in their homelands)"

I do not believe the root cause of all the asylum-seekers is violence. On this I agree with the right; most migrants are fleeing poverty where employment opportunities simply do not provide the standard of living enjoyed in advanced nations.

Latinos have been coming north to work at better paying jobs for as long as I can remember. The ability to live cheaply, wire money south for the betterment of their families was, and still is, a huge enticement.

We still need them. The USA was a major contributor to the misery index of banana republics. We needed them and they needed us. We used and abused other nations workers for our benefit then, and we still do today.

So what's changed? The numbers. Overpopulation combined with racist fear. We love the cheap labor; we just don't like so many of 'them' to the USA, to Europe. The white Christian nations do not want to be outpopulated by 'them' such that the tables are turned.
