Subject: Re: Comey Ham Sandwich Indicted
Lied to Congress
Dope, would you mind clarifying what the lie actually was?
I'm not being cute - the indictment didn't say what the alleged false statement was, and all the news reporting seems to think that the false statement was his claim that he didn't authorize the leak to the WSJ. But that statement was true. McCabe and Comey's accounts of what happened after the publication of the article differ materially, but I don't believe that McCabe has ever claimed that Comey was the one who authorized the leak. McCabe has said that McCabe authorized the leak, and he told Comey about it later. He did not say that Comey authorized the leak:

(the first Fox panelist doesn't believe that there will be a conviction; the second panelist doesn't think the case ever gets to trial).
You seem to have been far more absorbed in the details of this. Is there another statement that's out there where McCabe actually said that Comey was the one who authorized the leak? Or is the indictment going to be based on another statement?
