Subject: stutter pt2, full-on depressing
a noted journalist was not much surprised when trump started mocking biden.
but he was considerably disturbed when he heard MAGA nation laughing; at least one mockery was of a phrase biden had not spoken, so it was not just trump's version of 'reporting the facts'.

so the Atlantic journalist, with his own lifelong heavy stutter, went to a MAGA rally to interview people regarding whether they were disturbed or entertained. there was no chance anyone there grasped the neurological mechanisms of the disorder.

to a person, the topic regarding whether trump's mockery disturbed or entertained was deflected or minimized, even by a few that themselves connected with the disabled community.

replies in summary :

cindy: i dont like it but trump is a good man (this was the most negative response)
ross : the (biden) administration wants to put him jail, so its ok.

melina : our economy was great. other countries got along with us.
vanessa : biden is not handicapped, but an ass. he made our country dysfunctional, not disabled.
sharon : biden can’t speak. He can’t walk. He can’t talk. my cousin had a stutter, you can’t play into your feelings.

pittman [disabled biker] : (it's ok), we made fun of ’em. (his handicapped friends)
[journalist did not remark trump and biden are not friends]

cheryl [learning disabled] : they are using those words to win. That’s how you win.
shana [special ed teacher] : (her students bully each other all the time). regardless of what comes out of people’s mouths, we’re to forgive them.

-----------
me, am thinking maybe we just can't just get along, and some deep divides will not go away with trump.
the journalist, to his credit, imagined these as good people in their daily lives, but become something else among MAGA peers.
