I don't know if that "Tired" was a typo but that's how I feel.
Explaining to Americans why gun control is good is like explaining the difference between red and green to a color-blind person. Even those who fully understand the logic by common sense and statistics have an almost religious opposition to really accept it.
It's illuminating to know that it wasn't always thus, similar to the rise of Christian evangelism or going back further, the KKK. The basic idea was widely accepted but not the zealotry, until someone exploited the fertile soil.
