Subject: TRBC to GCIS conversion - SI-Pro
With the new Sector & Industry data in SI-Pro there may need to be a conversion between the older TRBC & GCIS coding. For the "descriptions" in SI-Pro, AAII has helpfully provided the relevant industry conversions, however as SI-Pro obscures or hides the various codes AAII don't appear to have much interest in providing the "code" conversions (at least when lohill checked). So given the codes & descriptions provided (via Wikipedia) by RAMc it's of course possible to create the coded version of AAII's conversion table, which I've subsequently done.

The following should link to an xlsx file that provides the conversion as defined by AAII (it should work for at least the next week)...
https://fromsmash.com/TRBC-to-...

The file also includes the TRBC & GCIS overall coding on other tabs (it should be fairly obvious). There are a few wrinkles as in all data that varies over time - for example the 5540 codes (Financials/Real Estate) seem to have been moved to their own sector in the TRBC coding at some point (60) and so the mapping appears in two places (sectors 55 & 60). There's also not a 1:1 mapping between the two coding systems, so depending on what you're looking to include or exclude one may need to included additional GCIS codes once the GTR1 includes this information (and so the file includes that information).

But for now this should represent the recommended (by AAII) mapping between the two systems. Within SI-Pro for screening conversion one would use the descriptions and within our own systems (GTR1 etc.) it's probably more helpful to use the codes (at least that's the way those systems appear to work now).

Let me know if there are any errors & I can correct the file, however it should be pretty reliable.
