Subject: Re: 20 Years of BV and Market Price
Silly question, but where does one find the actual book value for BRK?

You can find it on finance.yahoo.com for example. However I prefer the DYI method:

1. Go to https://berkshirehathaway.com/..., download and open the latest report.

2. Search for 'Berkshire Hathaway shareholders' equity' (page 3: $455,430 million)

3. Search for 'On an equivalent Class A common stock basis' to find the number of outstanding A shares at quarter end. (page 21: 1,466,045 shares outstanding as of September 30, 2022)

4. Divide the two numbers, reducing both by a million: 455,430 / 1.466045 = 310,652 book value per A share. Divide by 1500 for B shares: $207.10.

5. Check at Yahoo:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quot...
Book value: 310,560.19.
Close, but how did they arrive at that number, and how wrong could it be next time?
