Just to be clear, Senator Alex Padilla is a US senator from the state of California.

He is also Hispanic. No one has yet said that the color of his skin played a role. Sen. Padilla is not going to go there. But dollars to donuts, if it were a white woman instead of Padilla, the situation would have been handled differently. Because brown men are inherently scary to far too many in the MAGA cult.

And a reminder. Cruelty isn’t a bug. It’s the main feature.
