Representative Michael Guest, the Mississippi Republican who heads the House Ethics Committee, said the panel did not reach an agreement about whether to release its report into sexual misconduct allegations against former Representative Matt Gaetz. Mr. Gaetz resigned from the House when President-elect Donald J. Trump announced his intention to nominate him for attorney general.

Vice President-elect JD Vance is spending his day on Capitol Hill with Mr. Gaetz for meetings with senators in hopes of smoothing his path to confirmation.
