"It is very worrying, the trend towards far-right nationalism. That breeds isolationism (unrealistic in today's highly-interconnected world), xenophobia, and makes ripe the attacking of democracy by folks like Putin or Xi due to the fracturing of the global societal fabric."

Nationalism and isolationism were unrealistic 75 years ago. The world has only become significantly more interconnected since then.

The world is interconnected whether we like it or not. What happens to Ukrainians eventually affects the people in the U.S.

We live in a world where a country can send information anywhere in milliseconds. A missile can be sent anywhere within a 1/2 hour. Troops can be sent anywhere in the globe within hours.

Isolationism just weakens a country. Countries that work together are stronger.
