It is a giant threat to democracy when the government is the decider of what information is permissible for the public to discuss; With a exception for classified material, and even with classified, our government creates a lot of mistrust that could be avoided with more ready access to redacted versions of classified info.

Other than secret stuff, the best way is a free for all where all sides express their ideas and opinions including their opinion of the other guys ideas and opinions. Duke it out in public, and let the public decide what to believe and how 'the facts' should be applied to their personal circumstances. The trouble is the libs don't trust regular citizens (ignorant rubes) to make the "right" decision. So, once the elites identify the correct decision, the then attempt to use government power to enforce it on everybody.
