Subject: Re: Abortion Rights?
LurkerMom: Most people believe in the sanctuary of a human life and are not quick to end the life of a viable child in the womb.

You keep writing viable. And we've already gone over the data. Abortions at 26 weeks or later are extremely rare and almost always are the result of a change in the viability of the baby or the health of the mother. Virtually no one is having elective abortions after 26 weeks.

LurkerMom: Oh the other hand though some (many) do not want to keep the life they helped to create other than because of a rape, incest or the health of the mother. Some of these same people though are out campaigning, save the whales or the snail living in the nearby pond.

Umm, what?

As we also already discussed, Trump is the dog that caught the abortion car and he's terrified. So he's saying, leave it to your conscience, leave it to the states.

What he's really saying though, is this: "All hail me, I ended abortion by packing the Supreme Court with Federalist justices that killed Roe after claiming during their confirmation hearings that it was settled law. So now I see republicans are getting slaughtered in elections for wanting a complete ban on abortion so I'm putting my tail between my legs and saying, state's rights, state's rights. So I'll be happy to support the most restrictive state abortion bans imaginable and will probably sign a 6-week national ban on all abortions, no exceptions."

Shorter: Trump acknowledges abortion laws are up to each state but declines to explicitly say whether or not he’d sign a nationwide abortion ban.
