Subject: Are Democrats ready?
I still feel if you people grow a set, rallied around Biden and said "Abortion Rights". "Social Security" every single day - you have a 60% chance to win.
But if Trump wins.
Are you ready to actually govern in 2028 or 2032? Yes, I know this is beyond today. I apologize it's not in your 24/7 news or cyber whatever that you cyborgs are controlled by nowadays. And this isn't even the long game - it's the medium game. Let's play a game:
Thatcher - Reagan
John Major - Bush Senior
Tony Blair - Bill Clinton
David Cameron - George W
While it's not perfect - look at the above list and see how the trends, expectations and even some of the end results were very similar. Point being, we sometimes mirror each other, even now in some ways the UK and USA. I know, I know, notconvinved.
Brexit. Trump. (Just one more for you to chew On).
Anyways look at Brexit today. *Eventually* the voters come around and figure out that shit like pensions, social security, health insurance might just matter to them. And Labour (not the nut Leftists) but nevertheless, Left of the Brexit crowd is due to come into power.
In 2028 you'll be 6 years from Social Security cuts. Maybe Trump and the suicidal GOP will cut back things like ACA subsidies that hurt Red voters as much a Blue.
Point being it'll be ripe for the taking. So between now and then a few things to ponder:
1.)Will you expend political capital on he/him they/them? Gender Taliban stuff?
2.)OR will you spend energy on organizing tithing localities and the STATE level because you can't win big with the current SCOTUS, but as abortion showed in KANSAS and OHIO, you can raise hell successfully in the State. (Righties have known this for decades
3.)Will you run a Coastal 401K campaign again in 2028? OR as anyone from Howard Dean said, and Bill Clinton *did* run for President of AMERICA, not just the cosmopolitan few.
4.)If you don't choose the latter and want to preserve a 6-3, or by then 7-2 Supreme Court for the Right, oh well that's your choice.
5.)IF NOT, no different than Bill Clinton did in the 90s will you make a few compromises, and WIN and GOVERN? Clinton decided not to be Mondale and Dukakis. And you got RBG. Maybe you don't want to be Kerry, Hillary, or Biden next time around and maybe you'd like to get to a 5-4 Conservative Court at least with hopes of a swing vote?
If the UK is any hint, Methinks you might have such an opportunity coming up.
Mind you, I know you *love* helping Karl Rove, KellyAnne Conway and Steve Bannon so I'm not holding my breath.
With any luck you'll tell the Blue Haired They/Them Baristas to STFU and sit down, and you'll be making a few trips to the Governor's Mansion in Kentucky in coming years.
