Subject: movie Civil War
Has anybody watched this movie ? Kirsten Dunst is 1 of the main characters, I do not know the other lead actors. I've watched the first hour, it's pretty bleak ( but interesting, don't mean it's not a good movie ). Kirsten and the others are playing the roles of journalists trying to travel thru a war torn America to interview the President ( I think ). So far, it is a pretty
disturbing movie. I sure hope it never comes to this, but man, they sure do make it look conceivable that Americans could be executing other Americans over political beliefs.
On a different note, I took a 7 hour trip thru my home state recently, much of it thru what would be prime MAGA land, on the way to a college town. I was pleasantly surprised to see very, very few Trump signs or flags. This trip was thru a very rural area until we reached the lakeshore, and it was almost like Trump didn't even exist.
I do listen to parts of Trump speeches ( as much as I can stand ), and he is always trying to paint s picture of America as a failing country, on the precipice of turning into a dystopian hellscape unless Trump is elected.
Everywhere I drive, almost ( not all ) everything I see screams prosperity. The highways are jammed with vacationers, the bars/restaurants all required wait time before being seated, the local parks we visited to hit their hiking trails were packed with people doing the same. By far the majority of what I see in daily life is Americans doing well. I know there are people hurting, but it sure looks like there are an enormous amount of working-class Americans doing really well. I hate the story Trump is trying to pitch of America as being on the edge of Zombieland if he is not elected, and I've been pointing out the prosperity to people I come in contact with. I'd guess that 75% of my friends think Trump is talking total BS, and that he comes across as an evil villain from a comic book story. The other 25% are riding with him no matter what.
