Well then, to put it in your terms, I don't believe that it's at all likely that Trump would determine that a nuclear attack or a ground invasion would ever serve his personal interests as he perceives them right then.
He wanted Venezuela 2.0. He knows he will lose his base if he does Iraq 2.0 - it's one of the very few things he could do that would cause his base to abandon him. And I'm pretty sure he'd think he was better off allowing Iran to end up wherever it ends up rather than drop a nuclear weapon on Tabriz.
