I enjoyed this half hour thoughtful commentary by the Dean of Valuation on the thinking behind cash retention vs. buybacks vs. dividends with lots of summary data and clarifying many myths and misunderstandings.

In general, he leans towards buybacks given their added flexibility and optionality vs. committed ongoing dividends. Nice overview and worth a watch imo.
