This is unusual because Buffett's position historically is he neither confirms not denies rumors. Buit I suppose when a "reputable" firm like Reuters reports this --he felt the need to deny.

Further, the story is likely not even possible as Berkshire does not hire investment banks to evaluate potential acquisitions--per Buffett. Buffett added that part to his denial.
