The only bet I'm tempted to make is one I heard about where you can bet that Jesus will return to Earth this year. That's as close to a sure thing as I can think of that it won't happen.

Otherwise, as a former coworker said to me once, "I work too hard for my money to give it away". Odds always favor the house (unless you're the Felon, in which case "the house" goes bankrupt (as it did in Atlantic City).
