Seems like a reasonable fit for the secret service. (unlike counterfeiting, which I could never figure out)


Counterfeiting was their original job. During the Civil War counterfeiting was so common in threatened to destroy the federal economy, hence the need for drastic measures. The presidential protection gig didn't come until later, probably because they had the best name.
