Stef Wertheimer's book, "The Habit of Labor" should be a good read

I priced it on both Amazon and Abe Books: >$70 USD, new or used. Ow.

Local library didn't have hard copy, even on interlibrary loan BUT did have e-book version available for free two-week checkout.

It's fun so far: "As teenagers, my friends Gidon, Edgar, Ernst -and I would concoct various strange ideas and send letters to the king of England with sage advice on how to win the war against Hitler. These were methodical letters, full of innovations we devised, such as how a British pilot could blind his opponent, the German pilot, so the latter would not be able to see him as he aimed his plane's machine gun at him. The king for some reason did not bother to respond to our many letters. Perhaps the war kept him too busy."

(Needless to say, I've not gotten to the meat of the book yet)

Anyhow, FWIW. I'm generally not a fan of library e-books, but even less of a fan of spending $70 on a one-time read. YMMV
