Port Moresby was a critical allied base in World War II and was a critical jump-off point for the Pacific Campaign. Good to see us re-establishing a presence in the southwest Pacific.

As I mentioned before, we have access to new bases in the Philippines, but where or whether the radar will be built is a question. We do Freedom of Navigation trips through the South China Sea, and recently we've had brushes. The Chinese have done surveys mapping out the ocean EAST of the Philippines, so they know where to hide their subs (they even named some of the areas). Taiwan's air space continues to be encroached. As 1pg mentioned, Japan has brushes. Indonesia doesn't like China and sank a couple of fishing ships. But the String of Pearls is still there. Chinese bases in Sri Lanka. Ports in the Straits of Malacca. Here's a map:
