Subject: MAGA; Make Arrests Go Away
Thanks to Trump’s incompetence, ignorance, and just plain stupidity, judges in Wyoming were forced to dismiss indictments against criminal defendants, including some charged with murder.

Didn’t he promise to get criminals off the street?

Synopsis by Claude of a Rachael Maddow segment on June 8:

Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney in Wyoming, Darin Smith, was found by a panel of three federal judges to have committed misconduct by making “inflammatory” remarks to grand jurors. The judges dismissed indictments against nine criminal defendants — including some charged with murder.

Smith, who was in his first prosecutorial post after serving as a state senator and as an executive at the Christian Broadcasting Network, addressed grand jurors before proceedings were on the record and a judge was present.

Smith had no prior litigation experience, and his nomination had been condemned by Democrats. Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Dick Durbin said Smith is “wholly unqualified to be a U.S. Attorney” and “should NEVER have been confirmed.”

So the upshot was that because of Smith’s misconduct and incompetence in handling grand jury proceedings, serious criminal cases — including murder charges — were thrown out.
