He was speaking about Catholics, apparently. I know he is more liberal (if that term can be applied to him) than previous popes. I've read a few things that conservative bishops are trying to go around him about various issues.

But you lead-in implies he was speaking generally about all conservatives, not just Catholic ones.

(Not Catholic, don't really care...when the Catholic Church finally has to close it's doors, I will say "good riddance".)
