Subject: DLTR getting rid of Family Dollar
Dollar Tree is consulting financial advisers to conduct a strategic review of its Family Dollar business, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The Chesapeake, Virginia-based discount retailer has retained JPMorgan Chase to explore options including a potential sale or spinoff of Family Dollar, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Dollar Tree (DLTR) acquired the Family Dollar chain in 2015 in a roughly $9B deal.

It has been a disastrous acquisition for DLTR. I wonder how much they have lost including the years of integration expenses.

Not sure if this is good for DG. FDO may be much better competitor as an independent retailer or may be too weakened by prolonged mismanagement.
