Subject: These People Are "Patriots"?
The New York Times documented violent counterprotesters attacking students on Tuesday in the pro-Palestinian encampment at UCLA for several hours, including beating them with sticks, using chemical sprays and launching fireworks as weapons, as security personnel hired by the university stood by and did nothing throughout the incident. Attacks on the encampment continued for nearly three hours before police — who had been called earlier — arrived but did little to stop the violence.

The New York Times determined that counterprotesters initiated the violence that erupted.

Some counterprotesters sprayed chemicals both into the encampment and directly at people’s faces.

At times, counterprotesters swarmed individuals — sometimes a group descended on a single person. They could be seen punching, kicking and attacking people with makeshift weapons, including sticks, traffic cones and wooden boards.

In short, a group of young men who came looking for a fight but didn't find one, decided to start one.

Those aren't "counterprotesters," they're a violent mob.

No matter how the protesters are viewed and as long as they're remaining peaceful, there's nothing patriotic about "beating them with sticks, using chemical sprays and launching fireworks as weapons" against them.

Sorry, no matter how much you disagree with their beliefs, that ain't patriotism.
