In 1820, there were 7,452 white settlers counted in the Michigan Territory,
historians estimate that there were roughly 8,000 to 15,000 Native inhabitants living in the Great Lakes region at that time, primarily from the Potawatomie, Ojibwe (Chippewa), and Odawa (Ottawa) tribes.
In other words, within the realm of being relatively evenly matched- by population.
In terms of armaments and organization…… not so much.
