Subject: Re: How Dems make republicans
the Dem party could have respected the completive process to nominate the party's candidate.
They did, but the candidate who was on the ballot decided to withdraw, having the same effect as if he had died or been otherwise incapacitated.
So the convention delegates chose a different candidate, as convention delegates have been doing since the first political convention in the US in 1831, and the bylaws of the Democratic Party make that the final say on who is the party’s nominee.
For the record, it’s possible that no candidate would secure enough delegates on the first ballot, at which time the delegates are then free to vote for different candidates (if they choose) to eventually come up with an official nominee.
That’s what happened. Case closed.
I understand that you don’t like that Joe was pressured to withdraw. He did so voluntarily, and could have stayed in if he so chose. Get over it.
