Just speaking for myself, from the very beginning it was clear to me the ransom money was not coming from the US Treasury. But the source of the funds was secondary to the fact that Iran now had $4B to use for sponsoring terrorism and developing nuclear weapons both of which it is well known that Iran is already doing. The cost to humanity will be far far greater than the four hostages we recovered. It was a poor calculation on the part of the Biden Admin and demonstrates to other adversaries that hostage taking pays.
