Strange how fast that can work when it's a Republican elected, and how slow it was (6 weeks if memory serves) when it was a Democrat winning a special election for a vacant seat.

I believe the House needs to be in session to swear in a new member.

Since the democrats shut down the government when the democrat won...it wasn't.
